Services
The community is supported by
a staff consisting of administration, building & zoning, police and public works
offices. The Kildeer Police Department provides 24 hour police patrolling, including
traffic control, and property surveillance. Kildeer maintains approximately 30 miles of
roads and 3 sewer districts.
Vehicle Stickers
Vehicle stickers are required
for all vehicles within Kildeer. Vehicle stickers must be purchased each year. Stickers
are valid from July 1st thru June 30th. Stickers purchased before August 1st are offered
at a discounted rate of $20.00. Stickers purchased
after August 1st are $40.00. The fee
to residents new to the Village (after August 1st is $20.00. If you have a valid sticker
from another municipality, please include vehicle information on your application along
with the municipality where registered. Vehicle stickers may be transferred for $1.00.
Sticker applications are sent to all residents during the month of May of each year, or
may be mailed any time at the homeowners request. Names of residents who do not purchase a
sticker will be given to the Kildeer Police Department and may be subject to a fine.
Voter Registration
Residents may register to
vote in person at the Village Office, Ela Library or the Ela Township Office. Two forms of
I.D. are required. You may register up to thirty days prior to an election.
Parking on Village Streets
Village Code prohibits any
parking on streets and right-of-ways. Tickets are issued to those in violation.
Landscapers and other service agencies should be advised to park in your driveway. If
there are special conditions that would require on-street parking, such as a large
gathering or driveway surfacing, you may contact the police department at 438-6010, to
secure special permission for a limited time. Please note however, that no parking will be
permitted under any circumstances on Cuba Road, Long Grove Road, South Krueger Road and
Quentin Road for obvious traffic safety concerns. Residents in those areas will need to
make arrangements with neighbors, or park with Police permission on side streets.
Burning Provisions
The following restrictions apply
to leaf burning in the Village: Leaf Burning- does not require a permit, but must be
limited to the hours of 10:00 a.m. to sunset, on Saturdays or Sundays on even numbered
days from October 1st thru June 1st. Landscape Waste - requires a
permit from your rural fire protection district and must be limited to 10:00 a.m. to
sunset. The permit will specify the dates. When doing any burning, please remember that
open burning is not permitted less than 50 feet from any structure, and should be
constantly attended until fire is extinguished; extinguishing material must be on hand at
all times.

Transportation
Metra/Chicago & Northwestern
train line provides commuter service to Chicago with stations located in Palatine and
Barrington. The Metra/Wisconsin Central has stations in nearby Prairie View. Kildeer is
located within 10 miles of the Tri-State Tollway and within 2 miles of access to the
Northwest Tollway, which serve the entire Chicagoland area. OHare Airport is
approximately 35 minutes away during normal traffic conditions. PACE bus service has many
stops in Lake Zurich.

Schools
The school systems serving
Kildeer are highly regarded and dedicated to education. Lake Zurich Community Unit
District #95 serves most of the Village of Kildeer through Charles Quentin School (K-5),
Lake Zurich Middle School - South (6-8), and Lake Zurich High School. The north and east
portion of the Village is served by Community Consolidated School District #96 through
Kildeer Countryside (K-5), Twin Groves Jr. High (6-8) and Adlai E. Stevenson High School
(District #125). Parochial grammar schools include St. Francis De Sales Catholic School in
Lake Zurich and St. Matthew Lutheran School in Hawthorn Woods.

Animal Provisions
Dogs and cats rabies vaccinations
are registered through the Lake County Health Department. The registration tags are
available from your veterinarian- . Lake County has an ordinance which requires dogs be on
leashes when not on their owners property. This is enforced by the Lake County
Animal Control (847-526-5336). The Kildeer Zoning Ordinance prohibits more than 3 adult dogs
or 4 adult cats per residence. Removal of raccoons, squirrels, etc., and other wild
animals will be handled by the Lake County Animal Control; you will be charged a fee for
this service.
Recreation
Lake Zurich Park and Recreation
Department serves the Village of Kildeer residents at an additional non-resident fee.
Information may be obtained at 847-438-5146 or at the "Barn" in Paulus Park, Whitney
Road, Lake Zurich. Residents with children in School District 96 may also take advantage
of Buffalo Groves Park District, also available at a non-resident rate. There are
many community based athletic programs in the Ela Township area which are not park
district affiliated.
Lakewood Forest Preserve is located at
Rt. 176 and Wauconda Road with picnic areas, Lake County Museum, lakes for fishing,
physical fitness trails, and facilities for hiking, ice skating, and tobogganing. There
are many golf courses in the surrounding areas, as well as riding stables. More Lake

The private Farmington Bath & Tennis
Club is located on Long Grove Road, within the Village of Kildeer. A Ela Area YMCA is on
Old Mill Road west of Quentin.
Medical Services
Kildeers closest hospital
is Good Shepherd on Route 22 in Barrington (381-9600). The closest trauma center is
located at Northwest Community Hospital on Central Road in Arlington Heights (259-1000).
Condell Hospital is located in Libertyville (362-2900). There are also medical clinics,
doctors, dentists, eye care and veterinary care facilities located within the Village of
Lake Zurich. Northwest Community Hospital Staffs a 24 hour treatment center at Rt. 12
& Cuba Road.
